Nicki Thompson, Artist

Thompson, a national award winning fine art portrait artist from Waterford, MI, pursued an interest in painting from her early years. After an extended break to raise her family she returned to her love of art in the mid 1990’s.

Although she has taken several art classes, Thompson is largely self-taught and takes pride in her unrelenting determination and intense studies of the Old Masters. Intrigued by the realistic renderings and techniques of the Italian Renaissance and Dutch Masters, she is focused on developing her personal style of representational art using these traditional academic methods.

Thompson has worked professionally in the fine art of portraiture and figurative work since 1998. While accepting commissions for custom portraits and selling original paintings in oil, she teaches private and semi-private classes, sharing many techniques including Classical Realism.

Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections.
